Dr. Cadavious Jones Leads Montgomery's MGM BEST Robotics Competition at Alabama State University

Dr. Cadavious Jones spearheaded the 2019 MGM BEST Robotics Competition hosted at the Montgomery Multiplex, located at the historic Cramton Bowl. This prestigious event drew students from across Central Alabama for a thrilling day of competition and innovation.

What sets this competition apart is its unique location—the Montgomery hub is the only one of its kind housed at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), specifically Alabama State University. Under Dr. Jones' guidance, teams of students dedicated eight weeks to designing, building, and refining machines tailored to meet the challenges of this year's theme, "Off the Grid."

In the spirit of real-world application, teams undertook an additional task: creating fictitious companies complete with marketing plans, logos, and promotional materials like t-shirts. Each team developed a structured business plan outlining production, marketing, and sales strategies for their robots. Booth presentations showcased their innovation and business acumen, adding an entrepreneurial dimension to the competition.

Throughout the event, teams engaged in multiple rounds of competition on the arena floor, each striving to emerge victorious by demonstrating their robots' capabilities in scenarios simulating post-disaster cleanup efforts around fallen power lines.

Dr. Jones' leadership not only underscored Alabama State University's commitment to STEM education but also inspired young minds to embrace innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurship. The MGM BEST Robotics Competition at ASU continues to serve as a beacon of excellence, empowering students to apply their STEM skills to real-world challenges and fostering a new generation of leaders in technology and business.
