Dr. Cadavious Jones has achieved a historic milestone by securing Alabama State University's first NASA grant for his rover project as the project director of the Alabama State University Space Program. This significant accomplishment places ASU at the forefront of space-related education and research.

The grant comes from the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, which consists of 54 state-based, university-led Space Grant Consortia across the United States, including the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each consortium annually receives funds to develop and implement student fellowships and scholarships, interdisciplinary space-related research infrastructure, education, public service programs, and cooperative initiatives with industry, research laboratories, and government entities.
As the Project Director, Dr. Jones will oversee the implementation of these initiatives at ASU, ensuring alignment with NASA’s mission directives and the state's interests. Although Space Grant primarily focuses on higher education, it encompasses the entire education pipeline, including elementary and secondary education and informal educational outreach.
Dr. Jones' leadership in securing this grant demonstrates his commitment to advancing space-related education and research at ASU. This achievement not only enhances the university's capabilities but also provides students with unparalleled opportunities to engage in cutting-edge space science and technology.
