Transformative Change Through Rust College’s Inaugural Bearcats In Service Workshop

Rust College recently marked a significant milestone with the inaugural Bearcats In Service 2-Day Workshop, held on September 8th and 9th. This transformative event was a collaboration between the Rust College International Alumni Association, led by President Mr. Keithney Glass, and the visionary Division Deans, including Dr. Cadavious Jones, Dean of the Division of Science and Mathematics. The workshop aimed to drive positive change within the Rust College community through innovative solutions and strong partnerships.

The first day of the workshop focused on fostering collaborative initiatives between the Alumni Association and the various college divisions. The STEM division and the STEM Alumni Group (SAG) partnership were highlighted, celebrating past achievements and planning future collaborations. These discussions emphasized the importance of teamwork in driving progress.

Participants formed dedicated groups aligned with their respective divisions, embarking on a journey to assess unique needs and untapped opportunities within their areas of expertise. This tailored approach to problem-solving was designed to yield innovative solutions and lasting impact. Breakout sessions, both in-person and virtual, ensured inclusivity and broad participation from all divisions and alumni.

As the weekend progressed, the focus shifted to translating ideas into action. Across the campus, participants united to address identified areas of improvement. The STEM division, known for its commitment to innovation, took a leading role in these efforts. Their hands-on contributions included painting, staining, and repairing vital spaces within their facilities, with particular attention to enhancing the labs in the McDonald/Miller building. Esteemed alumni and faculty evaluated lab equipment and spaces, ensuring they met current standards and anticipated future needs.
