Workforce Development Discussion at ALI Session, Highlighting Rust College's New Programs

Dr. Cadavious Jones, a prominent figure at Rust College, has made significant strides in addressing workforce needs and trends across Appalachia through his leadership in the Rural AgriTech Program. Recently, he participated in a high-profile panel at the ALI session in Tupelo, MS, where he joined esteemed colleagues to discuss the vital roles that HBCUs play in regional economic development.
Held on Wednesday, February 14 at 9:00 am, the panel featured experts including Kaysha Jackson from West Virginia State University and Dr. Tasha Hargrove from Tuskegee University, who moderated the discussion. The session explored the innovative strategies employed by HBCUs to meet the evolving demands of the workforce, with a particular focus on the contributions of the Rust College Rural AgriTech Program.
Under Dr. Jones' guidance, the Rural AgriTech Program received a grant from the Delta Regional Authority, enabling it to foster agricultural technology advancements and support rural communities. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the program's success, positioning Rust College as a key player in regional development.
Joining Dr. Jones from Rust College were Ms. Rita Gibson-Rayford and Ms. Alice Pierotti, who are also actively involved in the Rural AgriTech Program. They were available to answer questions and provide insights into the program's initiatives and impact.
